A Foggy way of Life!

What is this all about?

Picture yourself driving down the highway with your family when you encounter a dense fog that fully encompasses your vehicle. What do you do? Slam on the brakes? Find the closest exit? Turn around and go back the way you came?

Well let me give you an idea as to where this might be leading.

To me it seems that we as a congregation have encountered a dense fog bank, so thick nothing looks familiar. There have been some suggesting that we turn around and go back the way we came, it was safe there. There are those who have slammed on the brakes, while still others have found the closest exit.

Now let me ask this question, what has been accomplished by choosing those options?
Well I guess the obvious would be that we have avoided the unknown. But have we made any real progress on our journey?

Is this really the way that we as the Body of Christ should act? Avoid all uncomfortable situations just so we feel safe and secure. Did Jesus feel safe in the garden? Didn't He pray that the cup be taken from Him? Now do you remember the rest of His Prayer? Wasn't it "Not My will but Yours Father" ?

It appears to me that there is way too much time spent complaining about what the church board and staff should do, and not enough prayers as to what the Lord's will is for us as individuals in helping to build His Kingdom.

So now let's just imagine instead of slamming on the brakes in the fog and causing those following to ask: "What in the world are those yahoos doing?" We slow down, focus, gather our wits and pray that the Lord leads us through this uncomfortable situation. Just imagine the impact that this body could have on the community if we became united in the Lord instead of trying to achieve our own individual agendas.

Together we are strong, divided we fall. ====Skid====
