Faith

As I sit here reading emails from friends and loved ones, and deleting the spams, I come across one from a dear sister in Christ. She is fighting against cancer and, and I am overwhelmed by the Faith she is showing. her love for God and her home church.

Then my mind goes to the things that are happening within our church, the letter writing, the verbal attacks against the staff and the general tension that is showing its ugly head. I have got to ask this question, am I so misguided that I miss the true meaning of Christendom. What is the truth? Are we to spend our energy fighting amongst our selves so that we miss the unbelievable stories that are being played out right in front of our eyes.

This sister is an amazing person, to have such Faith for her God that she would see the positive through her personal struggles. Her story embarrasses me. To think that I would find so little to be thankful for when she finds so much.

There are many stories like hers that are being lived out everyday but I think that we get so caught up in what our interpretation of right is, that we as a society forget all about the way God is still here working in peoples lives.

I wish that I had Faith as this sister does. Skid

  1. Stirring up dissension amongst believers is one of the deceivers oldest tricks. As I remind my kids often, don't worry so much about what others are doing you can't control them. Focus on what you can control, your response to unlovely behavior. I know, easier said than done.

I like your pairing of this conflict with lack of faith. I was reading Hebrews 11 two weeks ago and had an epiphany. I knew this chapter is known as the faith chapter and I have read it many times. But I realized that the chapter attributes great things that God has done through humans as being possible because of their faith. Does that mean that these things might not have happened if these people didn't have faith. It sure made me pause and think. I'd encourage you to read Hebrews 11 this week and let me know what you think.
