Doing what is needed, not what is wanted.

Okay so the picture isn't really about my story but I thought that it was pretty funny anyway.

I had a dentist appointment today to have a tooth crowned. I was really not looking forward to this appointment, not only for the procedure but also because of the expense of the tooth and lost time at work. I had money saved up in my HSA bank account for the expense. My dentist is old fashioned and does not take debit cards or credit cards, but I get 5% off of my bill if I pay the day of, so to pay my bill I have to transfer money from my HSA account to my checking account and then write a check in order to pay my bill.

Well I scheduled a transfer to take place on Monday from the HSA to my checking, I checked my checking on Tuesday and found that the transfer had taken place, but instead of depositing the requested amount, the funds were withdrawn from my checking. Whoops......

Well I may have been a little more vocal than that..... anyway I started to freak out and then thought no big deal right... I'll just reverse the transfer and put the money back into my checking. Wrong!!! I was only allowed a certain dollar amount for withdrawal per day. Well even then I thought that I would still be able to make everything work out after all this is Tuesday and my appointment wasn't until Thursday. Wrong again... It seems that there is a two day period before the transfers are processed.

I'm talking to the computer with not very friendly terms at this time and Nancy is in the other room asking if everything is alright. Well NO......

So anyway today is the appointment and I have managed to get enough funds together to pay the dentist when I get done with this precious crown......

I'm sitting in the dentist's chair and the dental assistant has put all of that molding compound in my mouth and I'm waiting for the stuff to set up, when the dentist walks into the room and sits down and starts to talk to me. (Why do they always want to talk when you have your mouth filled with either their hands or instruments.)

He proceeds to say that he was looking over my tooth x rays and felt that since the tooth that was going to have the crown installed did not have a tooth above it that he could just repair the tooth and save the cost of a crown. Then he proceeded to ask if that would be okay with me. Well Yeah.

I came out of the dentist office thankful for the time I was there. I guess that my whole idea of this post is that even when things are not going the way that we would like, God is there. If we keep our focus on the goal (The Kingdom) and not get distracted by the obstacles in our path God will bless us.

John 20:29 (The Message)
Jesus said, "So, you believe because you've seen with your own eyes. Even better blessings are in store for those who believe without seeing."
