What Can I Do?

I have been reading in Isaiah lately and I came across this verse in the Message

Isaiah 66:1-2 God's Message: "Heaven's my throne, earth is my footstool. What sort of house could you build for me? What holiday spot reserve for me? I made all this! I own all this!" God's Decree." But there is something I'm looking for: a person simple and plain, reverently responsive to what I say.

I don't know about you, but I have a tendency to think that if only I could do this or do that then I could really be an asset to the Kingdom of God. This scripture spoke to me in ways that I really needed to hear, Who am I to think that I could do anything to build the Kingdom. He owns everything, He made everything, He is everything. He spoke the world into existence, How can anything that I might do compare to that!

The mentioned scripture says that He is looking for a "person simple and plain" I don't think that He is looking for a simple minded person, but just an ordinary someone that has a simple way of looking at things. In other words, don't complicate the Truth with a bunch of rules and theology.

It also states that this person should be reverently responsive to what He says.

So back to the subject line of my post: "What can I do?"

If I need to nail a couple of boards together I would look for a hammer that would do the job. It doesn't have to be a 20lb sledge hammer, just an ordinary run of the mill claw hammer. Not to say that the sledge wouldn't get the job done. (I just wouldn't want to miss the nail and hit my thumb with it.)

To help build the Kingdom I need to be responsive to His bidding, to be the simple tool that He can use to do the plain and simple tasks of life. There are other tools that are needed for the tougher jobs, so I think that I will be content to do the things that I am capable of doing.

We all have a job to do so lets listen to the job super and lets get r done.
